Cluster Association of Steelworks

A non-profit organization established in 1996, whose goal is improve the competitiveness of the sector through cooperative actions between companies and other stakeholder in areas such as internationalization, technological innovation, talent and training, and sustainability.

To address the strategic challenges of the steel industry, Siderex promotes cooperation among Cluster members, developing the capabilities of companies and other stakeholders, offering a balanced portfolio of services in technological areas, management improvement, and international promotion.

Our offices are located in the Basque Country (Spain), from where we work together with the rest of the Associations of Agex Group (Agragex, Fundigex, Mafex, Siderex), forming a team of more than 25 people.

We aim to improve the competitiveness of the stakeholders in the steel industry through cooperation actions in sustainability, internationalisation, innovation and talent, consolidating our position as a benchmark in the sector.

Organisational structure

The highest governing body of the Association is its General Assembly. Additionally, there is a Management Committee, elected by the General Assembly and composed of member companies. Both the Management Committee and the Association itself are chaired by the President

Currently, the presidency is held by the company LAYDE STEEL S.L.U., through Mr. Fernando Espada. In order to strengthen the role of the Association, the appointment of a vice-presidency was approved; Mr. Eduardo Bilbao from IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture, S.A.U.
